How Far away is 100K? It's A lot Closer Then You Think!

Personal training is a business, no matter if you are working for a club or independently, you are always working for yourself and need to handle your business effectively. There are a few simple ways to increase your income fast. You can charge more, work more or give yourself a raise. Of course be sure to put some of the money away for rainy days.

If you charge $50 an hour, you only need to work 40hours a week away to make $100K a year. It sounds easy, but when you are getting started, you are building your business and some of those hours will be for finding clients, so in the beginning it may take you more hours per week to build up your client base.

With a solid client base, charging $100 an hour, you only need to work 40hours a week away to make $100K a year. The reality is that many clients will pay $100 an hour, while some others may pay a bit less, or more, but every year plenty of trainers break the six figures.

If you are charging $200 an hour, well then you have your $100k in just 10hours a week.

Give yourself a raise

On average, gyms raise their personal training rates five percent every year to match the yearly cost of living increase, studios raise their rates too. Your clients get a raise every year too, so it will be no surprise to your clients when you ask for one yourself.

Since everyone else is getting a raise, be a good boss to your favorite employee, and give yourself the raise you deserve.

It's obvious that the more you charge the more you make and the less you charge the more you have to work. If you have an existing client base, you can raise your rates and instantly make a huge impact in your revenue stream. If you only have twenty clients, training forty hours a week, a five dollar an hour raise per client equals $10,400 more a year. Five dollars is a small price increase to the client, but it can make a huge difference for you, the trainer.
